The Stanley Herzog Foundation and Cabins

The Stanley Herzog Foundation Headquarters and Cabins rests at the crest of a hill on a narrow eight-acre site surrounded by prairie grasslands and cornfields.
The Foundation Building is comprised of three 鈥渟tone barns鈥 supporting the primary uses of the building: working, gathering, and exhibiting. Each stone barn is open-ended, framing views of the surrounding landscape.
The nearby Cabins, resting in a dense deciduous forest beside a small spring-fed stream, are reached from the Foundation Building by a series of trails and bridges. Positioned perpendicular to the stream鈥檚 topography and its riparian zone, the cabins are carefully sited to minimize disturbance to existing trees while maximizing guests鈥 sense of solitude.
